The work began while thinking about birds in flight and the act of looking downward at traces underfoot. I started to imagine these orientations reversing, as if the ground could open toward the sky. Through this process, nearby objects, distant space, weather, shadows, and surrounding environments collapse into the same visual field.
Working in this way means accepting instability: objects may fall from the lens, wind may shift the composition, rain may blur the image. Rather than separating subject from environment, the photographs remain open to these conditions and to the physical encounter between camera, body, and world.
